Welcome to Sofieland. I’m so glad you’re here.
I’m Sofie, a writer, mostly, but that identity blends and changes in time. No matter what, though, I will always be writing.
Sofieland is a public journey of creative exploration and self-creation. I have gone through many changes in my life and lived so many lives. I still have many more on the way.
I worked in the music industry for a long time. Then, I moved and started travelling more. Since then, I’ve struggled with trying to figure out who I was without making music for an audience, and learning what I like. I’ve returned to my first love, writing, and I am doing it as much as I can. I am looking for freedom in the cracks of life, because I find that’s where all the light falls in.
Every Monday morning, I send out an issue of Sofieland on whatever I’m thinking about that week, including five things I like, a lesson I learned last week, a weekly quote and a weekly mission.
I once wrote an ebook called Experimenting on creative experimentation and curious creation for experimental musicians and artists. It is no longer for sale as I no longer feel aligned with the Sofie who wrote it, but I am interested in writing more. I wrote a poetry book about queer, long-distance love called I love you so much, I miss you so much.
I am now learning to navigate a world without being a part of the music community, while discovering and creating a new version of myself, as Sofie the traveller or Sofie the writer or Sofie the _____ in the process.
Sofieland is a newsletter, but it aims to be so much more. I hope to be even more public and intentional in my creation and my work, attract the right folks to read, write with, and collaborate with, and I hope to continue do to even more. I also work as a freelance journalist, and cover a lot of psychedelics scene stuff as well as general pop culture and travel.
I also teach workshops and host meetups and reading and writing groups. I’m passionate about commitment, discipline, harm reduction, community efforts, psychedelics, body movement, and travel. My need for community is strong, and I hope to find and create one with the power of this newsletter and what it means to me and many others.
Sofieland is free, but upgrading to a paid subscription will eventually get you more. I am currently building out what that looks like, but I am actively committed to improving the Sofieland space, increasing my community offerings, and showing gratitude to those who have already offered a paid subscription. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
